Hot off the heels of selling out 999 NFTs in four minutes, ShiGGa Shay is back to his musical roots as he debuts the visualizer for ‘Mercury,’ a Trap&B duet with Taiwanese star ØZI, and drops his five-track EP IAMU.

When Mercury is in retrograde, it looks like the planet is moving backward from the Earth. This phenomenon happens three or four times a year, and many people chalk up the crazy things that go on during this time as Mercury in retrograde. Over a sparse beat that feels full produced by JBMADEIT & superjdoug, ShiGGa goes in on nonsense that a lover is pulling, “You hate all of my friends/I hope they don’t hate you, too/After all that finesse/You got me feeling like a fool.”

When it’s ØZI’s turn, he doesn’t hold back, “Wish life was like Netflix so I could skip the drama/Ice cold bitches swerve away spin-o-rama/Share your location now/Could you meet me halfway/Let’s not fight on text/Might just say the things I shouldn’t say.”

The combo of ShiGGa and ØZI is a dream team in their lane of Trap&B. ‘Mercury’, would be perfect at a concert where one artist brought out the other as a surprise guest to do the track and go into their own mini-set for 10 or 15 minutes. While travel is still difficult, let’s hope this can happen in the near future.

The rest of ShiGGa’s EP is in the same vein as ‘Mercury.’ The smooth ‘uRight’ with Jay Park always puts a smile on people’s faces. ‘Passive Aggressive’ is ShiGGa at his most honest. New track ‘Birthday’ has DJ request from the Singaporean ladies written all over it. On ‘uKnow,’ ShiGGa stretches his chops a bit as the beat gets bouncy with guitars and whistles, while he showcases his ability to sleekly ride it.

IAMU clocks in at a little over 14 minutes, and that’s the perfect amount of time before listeners want to hit that repeat button.
