Whats Good Music Awards are back
Hong Kong’s Hip Hop awards show is back in August after COVID-19 delays
Hip Hop has never been easy. Getting Asian Hip Hop accepted globally was never easy. Putting on a Hip Hop awards show that celebrates the sound of the streets of Hong Kong? Again, not easy. When something is simple, it doesn’t feel like it’s earned. Working hard and doing the things other people won’t do is difficult, but it’s always worthwhile in the end.
Whats Good Music Awards 2022 was an amazing project that was bubbling in the 852 and ready to go for February 8. Unfortunately, Hong Kong was locked down and things had to be delayed. Now, it looks like the machine is roaring and ready to go, so the Whats Good Music Awards will be held on August 6.
Instead of Pop-centric awards shows, this is strictly for the heads. Hip Hop, R&B, as well as producers and beatmakers will be celebrated because this is what needs to happen. The crew from 24herbs including Phat and JBS were part of the documentary Mic Check Part 1, which showed the work being put into getting the show to happen, as well as the announcement of venues being closed down by former Hong Kong leader, Carrie Lam.
In the end, Phat manifested the return by saying, “It won’t fail,” and now the time has come for the Whats Good Music Awards 2022 to happen.
