No smiles allowed for GAI’s ‘Not Friendly’

The Chinese rapper is making his stance very clear

There are some rappers around that want to be everyone’s friend. They smile a lot, mix and mingle with the media and fans, and have an affable attitude towards life. Anderson .Paak comes to mind here. Then there are others who just hang out in the back. Instead of making chit-chat, they are happy to be in the corner chilling with themselves or only close friends.

China’s GAI falls in the latter category, as he releases a song and video for ‘Not Friendly,’ off his latest album Duo Hong. Over a sinister Trap beat, GAI tells it like it is straight from the start, “I’m not friendly.” At least it’s clear!

With a video full of Dobermans, friends all dressed in black with fancy cars, and ants, GAI lays down the law. If you don’t know him, don’t step to him. If you aren’t at least a friend of a friend, don’t come around. He’s living that ‘Not Friendly’ life for real.

GAI may not be amiable to strangers, but he’s everywhere this year. He’s rumored to be an all-star on The Rap of China 2022, which should be airing soon. His video for another track off the new album, ‘Weiyuan Story,’ made a lot of noise when it was released. Be on the lookout for a lot more GAI, but just remember that if you aren’t his friend, don’t say hi.
