Don Malik spits his truth on newest single ‘K’ up’
The 28-year-old South Korean MC gets personal & raw
Don Malik first announced himself to the South Korean Hip Hop circuit in 2014 via a single entitled ‘The Way I Am’. That was 10 years ago when he was only an 18-year-old. A decade in the game later, the MC has put out five albums, two EPs, and finished top four in the Show Me The Money reality Hip Hop television series.
Although he’s still relatively young, you could consider Don Malik a seasoned vet within the scene because not many people have given the years he has to the craft. That’s the sentiment that opens up his newest single, ‘K’ up.’ “My music is everything, I dedicated my youth to it.”
The track arrived on all digital streaming platforms on February 16 via Ambition Muzik, a label founded by rappers Dok2 and The Quiett. A minimalistic beat backdrops the track, allowing Don Malik’s bars to take center stage and fully shine through. He spits all of his truths on it, how he made it, and reflections on what has become of it. It’s almost as if he wrote it for the 18-year-old who started out rapping in 2014. It’s personal, raw, and cuts deep.
