NOT’TOY and MORLAMBOY whoop it up in ‘เด็กบ้านนอก [Country Boy]’

The Thai countryside has never looked so fly

Asian Hip Hop has been all about localizing in 2021. We have seen rappers from Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Cambodia gloating about their home countries, so it’s just about time for Thailand to join the party. SQUAD Record’s NOT’TOY and MORLAMBOY redefine hometown pride with ‘เด็กบ้านนอก [Country Boy],’ an unapologetic party Rap that celebrates the remote side of Thailand.

Pre-COVID-19, Thailand was the perfect tourist haven, but travelers seem to often overlook the authentic rural countryside outside of the beaches and Bangkok. The countryside is where the trees are greener and the air is fresher. NOT’TOY and MORLAMBOY both grew up in the Isan area of Thailand, and see ‘Country Boy’ as the perfect opportunity to present this hidden side of Thailand to the world.

The track itself is an energetic flavor bomb. It leads with a whimsical string and flute interlude that embraces the Thai musical influence, NOT’TOY jumps in first as he’s the atypical country boy. Soon, he meets MORLAMBOY and then they are joined by their friends .34PP and เคนน้อยร้อยลีลา. Soon, it’s a country boy party with the MCs rhyming and acting a fool on boats, tuk-tuks, and even tractors in a field.

The energy channeled from the rappers is robust and comedic, almost like a cheesy tourism ad with a side of Hip Hop and goofiness. While ‘เด็กบ้านนอก’ is not a deep track, it doesn’t need to be. Sometimes it's a lot of fun to just act up with your friends and celebrate life.
