Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion & others comment on women’s rights at Glastonbury

“My body my, my MFin’ choice”

Last week, the US Supreme Court did a lot of damage to women’s rights as they dismantled Roe vs Wade, the landmark case that protected a woman’s right to have an abortion. Over the weekend, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Phoebe Bridges had a lot to say about them trying to take the US back to the Stone Ages at the Glastonbury Festival, one of the biggest in the world.

“Texas is really embarrassing me right now. You know that’s my home state,” Megan said to a chorus of boos. “I want to have it on the record that the hot boys and the hot girls do not support this bullshit.” Then, she got the whole crowd to yell, “My body my, my MFin choice” so loudly that hopefully Clarence Thomas could hear it at his home. She ended her protest with the double single-finger salute.

Pulitzer-prize winning rapper Kendrick Lamar was the final performer. That in and of itself is pretty impressive about a festival that caught a lot of flack about a Hip Hop headliner in 2008. Kendrick put on a hell of a show and on his final song, ‘Savior,’ blood came out of his diamond encrusted crown of thorns as he yelled, “Godspeed for women’s rights” over and over. One of the most moving tributes to women in Hip Hop history.

It wasn’t just Hip Hop, though. Olivia Rodrigo, one of the biggest success stories of the past year, told the crowd, “The five members of the Supreme Court just showed that they truly don’t give a shit about freedom.” She dedicated the song by saying their names and saying, “We hate you,” before bringing Lily Allen out and singing her seminal anthem, ‘Fuck You.’

Billie Eilish became the youngest person to ever headline a stage at Glastonbury at the age of 20. She started her set by saying “Today is a really, really dark day for women in the US. I'm just going to say that, because I can't bear to think about it any longer." Phoebe Bridgers also went hard at the Supreme Court, asking the crowd, “Are there any Americans here? Who wants to say fuck the Supreme Court?" and then led them into chanting those exact words.
