Shubh reps G-Funk West Coast flavor with a Punjabi twist on ‘Bandana’
All while cruising around in a lowrider
When it comes to the Punjabi scene, the India-born, Canada-based rapper Shubh, is one of its leading lights. Although he’s had a relatively short career having only started in 2021, Shubh has carved out a name for himself through brilliant and successful releases.
At the start of the year, he released a four-track EP entitled Leo. It’s garnered millions of streams on Spotify, alongside millions of views for its music videos on YouTube. While some artists may take breaks in between projects, this isn’t the case for Shubh.
On March 29, he released ‘Bandana’ independently, just like his previous releases. However, a new flavor is brought in for his newest single – an Old School West Coast G-Funk beat produced by Sickboi.
Fittingly, in its accompanying music video, the crew rolls through the neighborhood in a classic lowrider. Instead of the classic flows you’d normally hear over it, Shubh opts for a more melodious approach, even alluding to the late and great Sidhu Moose Wala. It goes against the grain, but it absolutely works.
