Last year, the big news in Taiwan basketball was that Dwight Howard joined the Taoyuan Leopards in the T1 League. The first pick in the NBA draft in 2004 delighted fans around the country with his amazing ball skills and even better people skills as he did charity events, showed up in presidential ads, and big-upped Taiwan every chance he got.
Dwight Howard and the Leopards didn’t agree to a contract for his second year, but the New Taipei City Kings in the P. League+ do have two stars in the Brothers Lin - Jeremy and Joseph. In their first game of the season, MC Jin got to experience Linsanity first-hand as the Kings won their debut to the delight of all their Taiwanese fans.
MC Jin and the Brothers Lin’s father had a courtside couch for all the action as the Kings beat the Fubon Braves 96 to 89. Jeremy Lin scored a game-high 21 points while Joseph had 19. Three other players scored in double figures for the Kings.
MC Jin met Jeremy Lin on the court and got a pair of his shoes. On social media, Jin posted, “It was definitely an intense back-and-forth battle all the way into the final minutes of the fourth. Shout out to the New Taipei Kings for coming away with the W! Great way to kick off the season.”
