The music industry is not an easy business to navigate. It chews you up and spits you out whenever it feels like it. In 2021 and 2022, Hong Kong’s IKA was making a name for herself in the biz with ‘LAVA,’ a female empowerment anthem, and even jumping in a cypher with five other femcees from the city.

Then it hit. Burnout. IKA started doubting herself. Music just wasn’t the thing she was interested in for a while. But now, in the middle of 2025 with encouragement from her family not to give up, IKA returns with a vengeance with ‘Baller Freestyle,’ a video filmed two years ago, but released now as she revs her engine and gets back into music.

‘Baller Freestyle’ is a bit of 2010s throwback nostalgia with visors, crop tops, and glow-in-the-dark fingernail polish. IKA, who is naturally an R&B singer, dips her toes into provocative Hip Hop with this one. Joined by her baddies at a basketball court and inside a club, IKA shows her potential on the mic. IKA promises this is just the start of her return. She’s back to working on some R&B, which will be out soon.
