“I hope we feel like this forever/Forever ever/Forever ever?” is one of the most quotable lines from Andre3000, half of the duo Outkast, in 2000’s ‘Miss Jackson.’ In those three bars, he morphs from confidently in love to questioning what love is and what the word forever actually means.

Singapore’s Yung Raja and Dubai-based Mali also challenge the meaning of the word “forever” in their latest Tanglish love letter, aptly titled ‘forever.’ There is a time in a relationship when everything is new, the world is all butterflies and rainbows, and love seems to have no end. That’s when the word “forever” is tossed around like it’s a volleyball at an informal beach outing. But there comes a time when forever is not forever. What happens then?

Raja is his ever-photogenic self over the Pop production of 2AM. Mali’s understated whisper singing sounds equally sexy and heartbreaking. As the two artists try to come to terms with the end of their romance, Raja gives his brutal answer to Andre3000’s question about eternal love: “Ain’t no forever/I know that you got tired of waiting.”
