The world is in a crazy place right now. With wars, climate change creeping in, and people being divided, it seems like everything is a battle. Yuki Chiba, Japanese Hip Hop’s crossover star, really isn’t too worried about anything on ‘心配無用.’
Translated as ‘No Worries,’ Yuki asks people not to be too bothered by small things, not to bottle up big things, and if a force majeure happens, there’s nothing that can be done anyway. As the untroubled philosopher, Yuki says that if he falls down, he’ll just get back up and keep going in a hurry.
The video for ‘心配無用’ features many of these scenerios. First, he’s in an investment firm that is going underwater quickly. All the stocks are going down, and each of Yuki’s co-workers are ready to commit seppuku. He’s not. Instead, he’s just chilling while the world is burning. In another scene, Yuki is serenely walking around a maze. A Texas Chainsaw Massacre-like crazed maniac is searching for him everywhere. In a football scene, Yuki is the goalie, and instead of being ready to save every kick, he’s on the ground stretching and yawing, knowing that no one is going to score on him.
Eventually, in ‘心配無用,’ Yuki is right. The stocks go back up. The maniac never finds him, and being a goalie is easy work for Yuki. His final line sums up the whole song, “Don’t worry about the little things/So that somehow they all just become a breeze.”
