As soon as something works in the music industry, there are 25 copies of it out immediately. Over the past few years, Trap has dominated the market in so many ways that it feels like a breath of fresh air to hear Lil Moshpit, 1ANDON and pianist Yun Seok-cheol’s ‘My Man’ featuring Yulem. Instead of 808s, rollers, risers, and triplet flow, ‘My Man’ sounds fresh like 2026 throwing it back to the mid-1990s.

It’s foreshadowing that the first words rapped by Yulem are “This bit ain’t free,’ a homage to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘For Free’ interlude off his Free Jazz and Hip Hop masterpiece To Pimp a Butterfly. The steady beat floats on its own, but on the intro and outro especially, pianist Yun Seok-cheol gets to work. It’s jazzy enough for Yulem’s rhymes, but also in the pocket for the dancers to get busy with.

In the video, Yulem skips around town and finds his crew ready to rock out with him. Every video looks better filled with movers and groovers. and ‘My Man’ is no exception. Once a circle forms, the jazzy piano hit’s just right and ‘My Man’ feels like an invitation for everyone to get up and dance.
