The boy of the year is back at it again

Indonesia’s Warren Hue had his glow-up year in 2022, where he was quite literally the BOY OF THE YEAR, as his album name of that year aptly suggested. To top it all off, he even had a Coachella spot while collaborating with some of the biggest names in Asian Hip Hop.

Two years on and one can tell that the 21-year-old artist is finally finding his identity. While it’s difficult to box him into a specific genre, it seems like Warren Hue is leaning towards the smoky and dreamy alternative R&B sound based on his recent releases.

‘SPLIT’ arrived on all major streaming platforms on April 26 and cements that notion. A spacey beat produced by Chasu takes center stage on the single, with airy synths and a deep kick drum leading its melody. Warren Hue opts for that yearny, sing-song flow, dropping verses about navigating through long-distance relationships. It’s one to kick back with, especially for times when a loved one is not close by.
