Vietnam’s Tommy Tèo practices gratitude in ‘Cảm Ơn’ with Rush
Videos don’t have to be fancy to be meaningful
Sampling Alphaville’s ‘Forever Young’ is always brave. On the one hand, it has a great chord progression that is instantly recognizable to anyone who loves music. On the other hand, ‘Forever Young’ has a great chord progression that is instantly recognizable, especially by lawyers who are out looking for copyrighted material sampled without permission.
Jay-Z took Alphaville’s classic and made it his own with ‘Young Forever.’ Tommy Tèo’s latest work with Rush, ‘Cảm Ơn,’ does the same as the title means ‘Thank you’ in Vietnamese. The song has received a lot of love since it was released so Tommy put the video out on September 24. While it’s not fancy or high budget, what ‘Cảm Ơn’ does do is show the gratitude that Tommy has for his local Vietnamese community.
Co-starring dancer SƠN LƯƠNG, Tommy goes around giving out money and gift certificates to workers in ‘Cảm Ơn.’ It’s a small handout, but it goes a long way to the people, especially when they get things in the most B-boy way possible.
