In the ever-evolving landscape of Vietnamese Hip Hop, Rap beefs have become more than just lyrical sparring. They can shape careers, redefine reputations, and, in some cases, dismantle legacies. The latest feud between Hanoi-based rapper Rocky CDE and Blacka, the runner-up of Rap Việt Season 2, is a testament to a battle’s influence.
Rocky CDE’s involvement in the ongoing rap battles within the Vietnamese underground scene initially had little to do with Blacka. However, the seasoned rapper found himself unexpectedly drawn into the conflict when Rocky released the diss track ‘BLACK MULOZ.’ While not explicitly aimed at Blacka, the song contained subtle jabs that fueled speculation.
Blacka, no stranger to Rap beef, responded a day later with ‘Găng’ Though the track avoided direct name-calling, listeners quickly deciphered its underlying messages – asserting his dominance while simultaneously challenging Rocky and another unnamed high-profile rapper.
Within hours, Rocky CDE dropped ‘2 Con Mèo Mập’, a diss track that took a much more aggressive approach – laying out damning allegations against Blacka and bringing his personal life into the public eye.
The diss tracks quickly gained traction, with ‘2 Con Mèo Mập’ surpassing 100,000 views within hours. Unlike typical Rap beefs that remain within the realm of music, Rocky’s approach blurred the lines between battle Rap and real-life controversy, shifting the tide of public opinion against Blacka.
Their impact on Blacka’s reputation became increasingly severe. Rocky’s accusations sparked online debates, and soon after, a woman alleged to be Blacka’s ex-girlfriend came forward seemingly confirming some of the claims on ‘2 Con Mèo Mập’. It reached a tipping point when GAMA Preshow, a major music event set to feature Blacka, removed him from the lineup.
In response, Blacka denied the allegations, asserting that he was falsely accused and hinting at legal action. However, the damage had already been done. Despite his rebuttals, the Vietnamese Rap community had already declared their winner and Blacka announced his withdrawal from the beef altogether.
