Hong Kong OG Hip Hop crew LMF announce 28th anniversary boxset for 屋村仔
A remastered vinyl & CD will be out in 2027
It’s hard to explain how influential the Hong Kong crew LMF was to people that weren’t there. At a time when Asian Hip Hop was just copying American acts and even rhyming in broken English, LMF made it OK to be different and original while mocking the Canto-Pop music industry. Now, the OGs of Hong Kong Hip Hop are re-releasing a remastered vinyl and CD boxset for their debut EP, 屋村仔, to celebrate their 28th anniversary.
Formed from the ashes of a the Dark Entry underground music show at Hong Kong’s Ko Shan Theatre, Lazy Mutha Fucker was at first a revolving door of 10 musicians whose stated goal was to do as little work as possible. They were an Indie band that recorded music in multiple genres like Heavy Metal, Hip Hop, and Funk, that struck a chord with the youth of Hong Kong.
Over the years, founding member MC Yan has gone on to become an arbiter of everything cool in Hong Kong as well as working with CLOT founder Edison Chen in Three Corners, while Phat and Kit formed 24Herbs. As the crew is coming up on three decades in the Hong Kong music industry, they decided to remaster and re-release their seminal debut album 屋村仔 on CD and vinyl in 2027.
