“Voice of the Club” Fatman Scoop collapses on stage & dies
The hypeman passed away doing what he loved to do
Death is never a good thing, and public death is even worse. On Friday night at the Green and Gold Party in Hamden, Connecticut, Isaac Freeman, known as the “Voice of the Club” Fatman Scoop passed away after he collapsed on stage. People tried to perform CPR on him behind the DJ, but it was too late. Scoop was taken to the local hospital and pronounced dead a few hours later. He was 53 years old.
Scoop was best known for the hit ‘Be Faithful’ with the Crooklyn Clan. While the song charted in some places like the US, Ireland, and Scotland, ‘Be Faithful’ was number one in the clubs for a long time because it sampled ‘Love Like This’ by Faith Evans, “A Party Ain’t a Party’ by Queen Pen, and ‘O.P.P.’ by Naughty by Nature, among others. Whenever clubbers heard the words by Fatman Scoop, “Base Drop,’ the party was about to get lit.
Besides the mash-up ‘Be Faithful, Fatman Scoop was also on Missy Elliot’s ‘Lose Control," Mariah Carey’s "It's Like That," Ciara's "Level Up [Remix]," and Chingy's "Let's Ride. Scoop was also a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015. Scoop was the hypeman of all clubs and played many dates in Asia over the years.
