Rolling Loud India went off this past weekend in Mumbai. While headliners included Central Cee wearing a Lord Shiva T-shirt, which sent the crowd into a frenzy, and the stoner raps of Wiz Khalifa, local MC gone global, DIVINE, played songs from his highly anticipated new album, Walking on Water.

The first single off that album is ‘You & I,’ a fresh yet familiar track that easily bridges underground and mainstream Rap. The reason why the song has a recognizable sound is the reimagined sample–‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’ from the classic Bollywood film, Sholay. Right when the nostalgia kicks in, DIVINE’s rapping meshes perfectly with Indian cinema.

The huge production on the video for ‘You & I’ features rapping, singing, dancing, and Kalyani Priyadarshan, one of the hottest actresses in South India today. Whatever DIVINE is doing, he is doing it right. In just two days, the video has already pulled in 4.5 million views. Add that to DIVINE’s fierce set at Rolling Loud, and the Gully Gang crew has impeccable timing.
