CLOT teams up with Timberland for work-wear collection
This East-West collab is the first between the two iconic brands
Hong Kong-based CLOT is well-known for its unique combination of Eastern culture-inspired designs with Western classic elements. This summer, CLOT returns with their first-ever collaboration with classic American footwear brand Timberland, and just dropped its footwear and work-inspired clothing collection, CLOT & Timberland collection, on July 20.
The lead item of the collection is the CLOT & Timberland 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe. Taking inspiration from both traditional Chinese folk creatures with a dragon design, and the silhouette of the classic Timberland 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe, the collection presents the classic footwear of Timberland featuring an uptilted toe that playfully represents a growling dragon’s head. Chinese aesthetic elements are included on the top of the shoe, with hand-sewn silk embroidery for the dragon eyes and flames.
The CLOT & Timberland 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe also comes with a smart range of matching workwear style clothing. Besides the Eastern-inspired details, the apparel also preserves the Earth-loving features of Timberland by using natural and recycled cotton and heavyweight duck canvas for rugged protection.
Creative Director of CLOT, Edison Chen, said that the dragon motifs seen in the collection represent a mystical and powerful representation of Chinese culture. Also, the embroidery not only showcases traditional stitching culture, but also modern tattoo culture that has been inspired by it and translated into modern Chinese dragon tattoos.
