BombayMami fuses cultures with ease on ‘Fire in Delhi’

A sonic journey to the back streets of Delhi from a modern point of view

LiFTED | Marcus Aurelius | 4 Mar 2025

Formerly known as Ta’Shan, Swiss-Indian BombayMami spent the past few years learning the tabla and studying Hindustani classical music. The result is a new moniker and a new sound that fuses cultures. ‘Fire in Delhi’ takes a modern look at the sounds of the back streets of India.

BombayMami is a reincarnation of herself and her sound. She told Conversations About Her, “It’s about blending the deep soul of Indian classical music with modern production in a way that feels authentic to me.” ‘Fire in Delhi’ showcases the sarod, sitar, and tabla, as well as BombayMami’s profound vocals and eloquent raps. It’s the sound of the past mixed with the present and future.

With an album, Peaceful Attitude, on the way, BombayMami’s artistic vision will soon be realized.
