Blasé dabbles with Drum & Bass on ‘Turtle’
The rapper continues to prove his versatility with his new releases
A master of putting his own twist on popular genres, Blasé returns with a Drum & Bass banger ‘Turtle’ from his brand new EP Debugging. Since debuting in 2018 as part of the duo RoofTop and as a solo artist with the EP 0, Blasé has consistently experimented with sound, carving out a unique niche in the Korean Hip Hop scene.
‘Turtle’ draws a compelling parallel between the journey of a turtle, moving steadily and slowly, but never stopping. The song's lyrics metaphorically reflect Blasé's journey in the music industry, emphasizing resilience and perseverance despite obstacles and naysayers. It’s a gradual climb to superstardom and enlisting the help of K-Pop superstar Chung Ha for the hook is another notch in the belt of an already impressive career.
The track's Drum & Bass sound also represents a natural progression for Blasé, who has consistently embraced and redefined current music trends. Much like his 2022 album, Multrillverse, which saw him delve into Chicago drill, English accent and all.
The single was released alongside his latest EP, Debugging, where ‘Turtle’ stands out as an anthem that contrasts with the Drill, Trap, and Dance influences throughout the rest of the project.
Accompanying the single is a visually striking music video that features Blasé surrounded by societal misfits. The video celebrates individuality and camaraderie, reinforcing the song's message of continuing forward regardless of societal judgments. Blasé's charismatic performance and connection with the outcasts highlight his own experiences of navigating the music world as a unique and often misunderstood artist.
