Jay Chou has been wildly popular in the Mandarin-speaking world for more than two decades. Over the past two years, he’s been the most-streamed Chinese artist on Spotify, but things are changing.

This year, SKAI ISYOURGOD’s combination of Memphis Rap and Chinese folklore has surpassed Jay’s MandoPop on Spotify. SKAI has amassed 3.023 million monthly listens, while Jay is in second place with 2.98 million monthly listens.

Most of the reason is SKAI’s song, ‘大展鸿图’ [Blueprint Supreme], which has put a stranglehold on the Chinese Rap universe. The song has a dance, and it has even leaped over the Great Firewall and onto Spotify’s Top 50 Viral Global Chart. While this is all big news to the Western world, it doesn’t even account for the massive numbers on Douyin, China’s version of Spotify. As he raps, SKAI ISYOURGOD is truly achieving great things.
