On the final day of 2021, Jay Park set the Internet ablaze by announcing that he would be resigning as CEO from AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC. He stated that he plans to keep being an advisor for both labels that he helped build.

On January 1, he released his latest song and video, ‘To Life,’ which is basically a career retrospective and has him doing things like hanging up his chains. In the final two minutes of the video, he explains what his thoughts are about the hardships of the past year plus shouts out his new soju label, WON SOJU.

The question remains - is Jay Park retiring? While he is hinting at retirement, and he even shut down his Instagram account, he does say, “I don’t think this is the end, just the next step” in the ‘To Life’ video.

The music business is ruthless and chews up artists and spits them out all the time. Lots of rappers have retired over the years. But a lot of those same rappers have taken that time off and then come back bigger than ever. There are rumors of Jay Park’s final album and world tour happening in 2021, so don’t expect him to go quietly into the night.
