The #HALLOWEENHIPHOPMIX is here to save your dreadful Halloween party

Put this on and all the members of Squid Game will start doing TikTok dances

LiFTED | Marcus Aurelius | 26 Oct 2021

Imagine walking into a Halloween party this year, seeing every member of Squid Game [Spoiler Alert: The old man is throwing the party] within the first five minutes, and then the DJ is playing the ‘Monster Mash.’ Everyone is kind of standing around and looking at each other while not really knowing if they want to stay or leave. The next song comes on and it's the make-it-break-it time of the party. If the DJ plays something amazing, the party could go off. If it’s wack, everyone might grab their trick-or-treat bags and head out the door searching for more fun. As ‘Monster Mash’ fades out, the DJ brings in ‘Werewolves of London’ and 3/4ths of the people head for the door, looking for something a little more fun.

PRO TIP: Don’t be that DJ! Yes, there are cute and fun family-oriented Halloween songs that are on every internet listicle, but at night, when the kids are in bed and booze is out, PEOPLE. WANT. TO. PARTY!

At LiFTED, we’ve compiled a #HALLOWEENHIPHOPMIX to save your Halloween parties. Now, a lot of these songs are older but still keep that real Hip Hop vibe going. Instead of asking that DJ to go home and throw away his DJ controller, you can just ask him to put on this mix and stand there. It’s a WIN WIN WIN! He won’t have to leave in embarrassment, you will get to hear good music, and the guests will have another time of their lives!

WHODINI ‘THE FREAKS COME OUT AT NIGHT’

On Halloween night [or the closest Saturday to it], the freaks are out in full force and Whodini knew what was up with that killer beat. Whether it’s that one friend who likes Halloween a little too much so he spends 100 hours on his costume, or that one woman who tries to make even the most boring costume sexy, the FREAKS definitely come out at night.

GETO BOYS ‘MIND IS PLAYING TRICKS ON ME’

Scarface is one of the best rappers to ever do it, and he wrote all the verses on here except for Willie D’s, which showed he had a real grasp of what mental health problems were even in the 1990s. When Bushwick Bill raps, “And I felt just like a fiend/It wasn’t even close to Halloween” after robbing kids for their trick-or-treat bags, it’s a real kick in the chest.

MISSY ELLIOT ‘GET YOUR FREAK ON’

We weren’t lying when we said that there are a lot of freaks on Halloween night. This Timbaland-produced track was released in 2001 and still sounds like the future. If you have any rhythm in your body, you have to get up and dance when this is played.

KEITH APE LIVE ‘LONG SOUL LIVES [영혼이, 영원히 살어]’

Keith Ape is becoming the Asian Hip Hop version of Marylin Manson. There have been rumors of his impending death, and this song definitely has that Thrash Rock feel. While it’s not a dancefloor killer, it has a lot of shock value.

5

EMINEM Featuring RIHANNA ‘THE MONSTER’

One thing that DJs always need to remember is to focus on the ladies! Adding Rihanna into any set is nearly a surefire way to get girls on the dance floor screaming and yelling. The fact that she’s on an Eminem song has always been haunting.

TYGA Featuring MEGAN THEE STALLION ‘FREAK’

Do we need to go back to the freaks? We definitely do. This slowed-down version of Sexual Harassment’s ‘I Need a Freak’ is perfectly sampled and makes Halloween dancefloors fill up with all the freaks.

7

IGGY AZALEA Featuring Rita ORA ‘BLACK WIDOW’

The video of this is a great homage to the Kill Bill series of movies by acclaimed-director Quentin Tarantino. At all good Halloween parties with costume contests, Nurse Ellie from Kill Bill 1 is always a crowd pleaser.

8

KANYE WEST Featuring JAY Z, RICK ROSS, and NICKI MINAJ

When you have all these heavyweights on a track, it’s hard to stand out, but Nicki Minaj came into the studio and slayed the giants. Her verse is so tough on this that they actually thought about LEAVING IT OFF because it was so much better than anyone else’s verse. Think about that!
