A decade of grinding has finally seen the KOZ entertainment head Zico crowned the king of Korean Hip Hop. In a recent nationwide survey by Star News and Gallup Korea, Zico was named the most loved Korean rapper of the 21st century, claiming 31 percent of the votes. The survey saw other iconic acts like Dynamic Duo in second place with 26 percent, and Epik High in third at 22 percent.

Zico, who debuted in 2011 as the leader of the boy group Block B, quickly became known for his creative prowess, writing, composing, and producing many of the group's biggest hits. His contributions helped cement Block B’s reputation as one of the standout acts in K-pop. After leaving his agency in 2018, Zico didn’t slow down. He founded KOZ Entertainment, taking on the dual role of artist and producer. Most recently, he launched the boy group BOYNEXTDOOR, further expanding his artistic reach.

Zico’s influence extends beyond his business ventures. In May 2023, he won his first trophy on Seoul Broadcasting System's Inkigayo for his single ‘SPOT!’ with Blackpink’s Jennie. Currently, Zico stays connected with fans through his weekly music variety show The Seasons on KBS 2TV, a TV station in Korea.

Slightly behind Zico is Dynamic Duo. Since their debut in 2004, the duo of Gaeko and Choiza is one of the most respected names in the scene. Known for their witty lyricism and catchy beats, they’ve released iconic tracks like ‘BAAAM’, ‘Attendance Check’, and ‘Go Back.’ Their blend of humor, social commentary, and emotion has cemented them as pioneers in Korean Hip Hop.

Epik High, close behind in third place, has had a similar impact. Debuting in 2003, the trio consisting of Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz, is renowned for pushing the boundaries of Hip Hop in Korea. Their music often tackles deep, introspective themes like mental health and societal pressures. With fan favorites like ‘Fly’ and ‘Born Hater,’ Epik High has managed to stay at the top of their game for over two decades.

Other names in the top 10 of the poll include Yoon Mi Rae [Tasha], Drunken Tiger [Tiger JK], Leessang, Lee Young Ji, Jessi, MC Mong, and BewhY.
