Yuki Chiba & Big Sean show their love for anime on the collab ‘Ski Ga Ski [隙が好き]’
“Me and Yuki Chiba/In the back smokin’ Cohibas”
On September 18, Yuki Chiba played his first headline show in America at The Roxy in Los Angeles. On that night, a special guest popped out to the surprise and delight of the whole crowd–Big Sean. Fans were left in awe as the two rappers debuted a song that they didn’t quite know all the words for since they had just finished recording it that afternoon. That song, ‘Ski Ga Ski [隙が好き],’ was released on October 18. Big Sean and Yuki both have a deep love for anime, and it shows in the art and the verses on this one.
Yuki said, “I started this song in Tokyo at my studio and finished it in New York City with Big Sean. The hook came naturally to me and is a play on using the Japanese words「好き」and 「隙」with the English word “Ski.” When we got to the studio and Big Sean hopped on, I knew his verse was going to go crazy. He continued the love and came through to play it live with me at my first headlining show in America. It was very surreal for me. I’m filled with gratitude.”
‘Ski Ga Ski [隙が好き]’ continues Yuki’s way of making tracks that are very easily chantable in any language. Everyone knows how to say “Ski” a few times, right? Big Sean highlights the tracks with his first line, “Me and Yuki Chiba/In the back smokin’ Cohibas/Told him it’ll always be like this/They ain’t believe us.” That’s hard and the best rhyme of his name since he was KOHH.
