YOUNGOHM goes New Wave Hip Hop with ‘เจิดจรัส’
When was the last time you heard a sax solo in the middle of a Hip Hop song?
YOUNGOHM always does things his way. Each time he comes out with a new project, it’s different and distinctly him. On top of that, all the projects YOUNGOHM touches have a bit of soul that is needed in this rigid world dominated by soullessness.
In his latest video, ‘เจิดจรัส,’ YOUNGOHM boldly goes where many rappers wouldn’t dare - New Wave. The song has a lot of singing, a ton of New Wave synths and claps, and even a saxophone solo, which is very rare for a Hip Hop song.
The video for ‘เจิดจรัส’ also follows the 80s New Wave vibe. It has a warm and gritty feel, as YOUNGOHM is a gangster on the loose, doing a lot of stupid things like robbing stores and getting too high. He finds a woman he likes spending time with cleaning a hotel and watches as the boss abuses her. After work, YOUNGOHM and his friends wait for the boss and beat him down. The only problem is that the boss is also a G, and comes back for YOUNGOHM.
In the end, hearts are broken and the pieces need to be picked up. While this isn’t something anyone would expect, that’s why it’s so good from YOUNGOHM. He shows that he’s the master of doing the unexpected.
