Twopee Southside makes it bounce with Yented on ‘Hurt My Heart’

Smooth Thai Pop meets Hip Hop

LiFTED | Sean D | 3 Oct 2024

Twopee Southside is one of Thailand’s leading rappers, but on ‘ทำร้ายหัวใจ Hurt My Heart’ he joins forces with crooners Yented for a smoothed-out R&B Pop ballad. The track has all the elements for a Thai hit - Yented gets the girls in their feelings with their soft as silk vocals, and then Twopee gets people bouncing with his bad boy rhyming.

The collaboration is a first between the artists and a relatively new sound for the buzzy Bangkok Pop scene. Twopee Southside is a name to know in the Asian Hip Hop world, ranked 13th in this year’s LiFTED 50 top rappers in Asia. The multi-talented MC seems to be branching out with this new Yented collaboration, and indeed, rappers across the region are increasingly being brought into other genres to give tracks an edge and some street cred. ‘ทำร้ายหัวใจ Hurt My Heart’ is really a Yented vehicle, and Twopee delivers some nice feature bars and even some singing on it.

The video is a well-made mish-mash of the ups and downs in a relationship. It ends on a sour note because sometimes things do, as the song title says, ‘Hurt My Heart.’
