Balming Tiger announces Tiger Den at SXSW on March 15
20 Asian acts will be taking over Cheer Up Charlies in Austin, Texas
Balming Tiger is living the dream in 2023, and it’s only February.
After killing it through all of 2022, Balming Tiger just announced Tiger Den in Austin, Texas on March 15 at Cheer Up Charlies as part of the SXSW festival. The event is an Asian showcase with a lot of LiFTED favorites like Lil Cherry and GOLDBUUDA, 9m88, Vanthan, Tuan Tigabelas, and of course the hosts themselves.
The best thing about SXSW is that it is a showcase of a ton of up-and-coming acts that maybe people haven’t heard of or know too much about. If a group goes on a run and catches buzz at SXSW, then it’s off to the races for their live shows and career.
While a lot of the artists on the bill are fill-on Indie darlings, there are some interesting acts in the Hip Hop adjacent space that Balming Tiger fills. HIEN’s single ‘Family’ has a Drum & Bass feel to it, so it seems like it would be amazing live. Yacko has a dope jam ‘Pitutur’ on the Hip Hop tip which is a perfect fit for Tiger Den.
