The King of Borneo Island tells his life story on ‘We Gon' Be Alright’
Rowney has rebranded himself into a new character
Making a song called ‘We Gon' Be Alright’ is pretty brave, especially since Kendrick Lamar has the ‘Alright’ lane in a headlock with his 2015 Black Lives Matter theme song. But The King of Borneo Island is a brave rapper with a song that tells the story of his life.
Rowney is a fairly new rapper who put out ‘Everything Grows’ in 2023. He has rebranded himself as The King of Borneo Island and discusses his struggles growing up and how he is very far from the place he grew up in. From Borneo, he moved to Malaysia, Java, and Sumatra, never settling in any place long enough to make it home.
In the video, there’s not much action, with the director only focusing on The King of Borneo and a few motorcycles. That’s a good thing because it’s easy to focus on the lyrics and the hook. ‘We Gon' Be Alright’ is a moving tale of a life that is always in a state of constant movement.
