sic(boy) releases chaotic second album vanitas

The gritty, genre-blending MC is out to change the game

Tokyo’s (sic)boy, who made a name for himself in 2020 with his debut album CHAOS TAPE, has just released his sophomore album vanitas. The genre-bending MC continues to shatter traditions by blending Hip Hop and J-Rock.

(sic)boy has come a long way in a short time. The young rapper first released his own mixtape NEVERENDING?? in 2018, but it was not until 2019 when his self-produced tracks started popping off on Soundcloud. He was quickly picked up by KH who assisted him in producing his debut album, which was a big success as it featured some of the best emerging acts across Japan.

At the album launch, (sic)boy released the music video for lead track ‘vanitas.’ Shot in a glamorous church, (sic)boy toys with gothic themes as he lays down his verse. With its hard rock edges and originality, (sic)boy feels like Asian Hip Hop’s Kurt Cobain.
