ShiGGa Shay & GALI keep moving forward on ‘Back Alive 卷土重来’
The motivational track should be played at a high volume for full effect
In the last few seconds of Singapore’s ShiGGa Shay and China’s GALI anthemic collab, ‘Back Alive 卷土重来,’ Rocky Balboa makes an appearance. In a quote from Sylvester Stallon playing his seminal character, Rocky says, “I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth.”
Like a Tony Robbins motivational seminar mixed with a late-night session in Ye’s studio, ‘Back Alive 卷土重来’ knows the only thing people have to do to survive is to get back in one piece. The beat from JBMADEIT goes up like Desiigner’s ‘Panda’ or Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Humble.’ Instead of just listening, the hard-hitting track explodes in the listeners' ears and moves them to keep pushing themselves to be better.
GALI and ShiGGa aren’t strangers. Instead, they’ve worked together before on ‘You Feel Me or What’ and decided the people needed more. They were right and ‘Back Alive 卷土重来’ is a nice addition to ShiGGa’s HANYU PINYIN mixtape.
While everyone has to face their own fear, ShiGGa and GALI know another Rocky quote, “Every champion was once a contender who didn’t give up.”
