Rich Brian announced as one of the headliners for Hong Kong’s Clockenflap
The festival takes place December 5-7 at the Central Harbourfront Event Space
In 2016, Rich Brian stepped onto the music scene with the viral ‘Dat $tick.’ The Indonesian rapper was 16 at the time, and he blew up so hard he soon had Ghostface Killah on the remix. Fast forward almost a decade and Rich Brian has been announced as one of the headliners for Clockenflap, Hong Kong’s premier cultural and arts festival on December 5 to 7 at the Central Harbourfront Event Space.
Clockenflap has come roaring back in post-COVID times. Their Hip Hop headliners have been De La Soul, Wu-Tang Clan, Swae Lee, and Central Cee over the last three years. Each one of those acts have held the stage down and given the Hip Hop heads what they wanted. Watching De La Soul in the Harbourfront was incredible. Wu-Tang had a band and 30 years of history. Swae Lee had so much bass in his set that it seemed like it might blow people’s heads off. Central Cee was so good it made the people in Hong Kong want to know where he got his hair cut at.
As 88rising’s first star, Rich Brian fits nicely at the top of the Asian Hip Hop scene. He’s got a new album coming out before Clockenflap, WHERE’S MY HEAD?, and he knows how to move big crowds since he has been on stage at the Head in the Clouds festivals all over the world.
