Korean police drop charges against Jessi for fan assault
A warrant for the Taiwanese person involved in the assault
Police at the Seoul Gangnam Police Precinct have announced they are dropping charges against Jessi for a case of a fan assault because of insufficient evidence. Instead, they have indicted Koala and issued an international warrant for the Taiwanese person thought to be involved in the assault.
On September 29, an 18-year-old fan asked Jessi for a picture. When Jessi said no, the fan was hit in the face by Jessi’s entourage. Jessi’s attorney said, “Jessi expresses deep regret for the distress caused to the victim and is truly sorry for the incident. As confirmed during the police investigation, Jessi did not assist the perpetrator in fleeing the scene nor was she acquainted with the individual prior to the event."
Rapper, songwriter, and producer Koala was indicted for the assault and referred for prosecution. The Taiwanese person is said to be Koala’s friend and he left Korea three days after the incident happened.
Jessi issued two apologies on her Instagram in October and promised to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
