Malaysian Hip Hop artist Namewee has been known to be a controversial figure in the music scene for years, but nothing could brace the public for what happened in October of 2025. In Kuala Lumpur, Namewee invited Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh Yu-hsin, also known as the Nurse Goddess, to discuss a video. She wound up dead in the bathtub and police found drugs at the scene.

Rumors ran rampant about Namewee, and her death was soon changed from sudden death to murder. Namwee turned himself in to the police and was remanded for nine days. The rapper was charged with three drug-related charges and murder. He was let out on bail and told the public that the truth would come out eventually.

In December, Namewee was acquitted of the drug charges as his urine test came back clean. Last week, he was fully acquitted of the murder charge as well. While there hasn’t been a clear explanation of what went down on that fateful night in KL, Namewee has said that he will be suing rumor spreaders and other media outlets for defamation.

Ten days ago, Namewee released ‘Misread Me’ that references the past nightmare of six months and how no one will even believe the truth when it is revealed.
