Another one: Musicland festival postponed in Mumbai
Things are going from bad to worse in the India festival market
The first edition of Musicland, with headliners Badshah, Seedhe Maut, and Arpit Bala, was supposed to happen on May 9 at Jio World Garden in Mumbai, India. Instead, it was called off at the last minute citing unresponsive authorities, but pointing back to the two overdose deaths that happened in mid-April.
Since then, cancellations have piled up including Circoloco Mumbai and French Montana’s first-ever headline show. Police deny cancelling the show, but the promoters of Musicland said that they applied for permissions and heard nothing back. Since they saw what was happening with the other shows, they decided to cancel and try and not lose every cent they had invested. After talking to the teams, Musicland is looking at rescheduling the dates.
One of the biggest problems is that applications can only be filed 15 to 20 days before an event. Only then do the promoters know the approximate headcount, and then they can talk with disaster management, as well as the local traffic police. Permission can be revoked at any time, and recently, it has been. Musicland decided to pull the plug and reschedule when things are looking a bit better for the Indian festival market.
