Korean soldier channels Kendrick Lamar to boost troop morale
Corporal Eom Jun turns KFN’s Troop Support Train into a mini Kendrick halftime show
For many Korean men, mandatory military service means putting everyday life on hold for 18 to 21 months, depending on the branch. The experience is built around military readiness, discipline, teamwork, and resilience, and spending that much time away from normal life can understandably make morale difficult to maintain.
So who better to lift the troops than Mr. Morale himself, Kendrick Lamar?
KFN [Korean Forces Network] regularly brings entertainment to service members through its Troop Support Train, giving soldiers a break from the daily military grind. During a recent performance, Corporal Eom Jun of the 19th Fighter Wing’s Military Police Battalion stepped up to the mic in his flyest camo gear and went straight into Kendrick mode.
Eom performed ‘Not Like Us’ and ‘TV Off,’ two songs Kendrick included in his 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. Clips of the performance have been making the rounds online, with Eom attacking the tracks with enough energy and confidence to get his fellow troops hyped.
It turns out Kendrick Lamar doesn’t need a stadium, a massive stage, or even American soil to get a crowd going. Sometimes all it takes is a mic, some fatigues, and a room full of soldiers ready to yell “MUSTAAAAAARD.”
