Korean rapper CL has been selected for 2021 Google’s Women’s History Month video
She’s the only Korean artist to make the cut
CL, a famous Korean rapper and a former member of 2NE1, appeared in Google’s Women’s History Month video, First of Many. In the video, Google plays a clip of one of CL’s popular music videos, where she is featured alongside the first female rapper, Sha Rock, Cardi B, Missy Elliott, and others. As CL is shown, the voiceover says, ”Women bring an energy to rap that did not exist before.”
The YouTube video focuses on the extraordinary achievements of women in different fields, such as business, sports, science, art, and more. Google made the video to celebrate some of the most notable firsts by women and the many women they inspire - from the first woman to break the sound barrier to all of those continuing to break the glass ceiling.
CL, the first Korean female solo artist to make her debut in the Billboard Hot 100, has been a big part of the golden era of Kpop industry. Those interested in Kpop and Khiphop can’t ignore that she was once the legendary leader of 2NE1. After 2NE1 disbanded, she began her solo career successfully and even had legendary Hip Hop artist Method Man appear in her video, “Lifted.”. As a talented rapper and producer, many well-known Korean artists want to work with CL and that’s why she’s been featured by Google.
