KAWS honors the Moon Festival in Shanghai starting August 29
This is the 11th stop on the HOLIDAY tour
KAWS knows that going big brings in the eyes of this attention economy. Last week, the Brooklyn-based artist teased that he was bringing his COMPANION back to Asia with a pic of the glove and a moon. Soon, it was revealed that the exhibition will be taking place in Shanghai from August 29 until September 1 on the north part of the Bund in Shanghai.
Made in collaboration with AllRightsReserved in Hong Kong and JFJ Productions in China, COMPANION will be lying on it’s back with a full moon held on its stomach. This piece honors the Moon Festival of displaying lanterns to bring good fortune.
As with all of the HOLIDAY trips, this KAWS creation comes with vinyl figures measuring 9.5 inches and has a moon that glows in the dark. The figures, along with some hoodies and mugs will be available at the Shanghai Kerry Center at the KAWS pop-up store.
