KAWS is one of the most intriguing artists in the world because he always knows how to create a spectacle. His HOLIDAY series, which never needs to end because everyone needs a holiday, has been shown in Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bristol, Singapore, Changbai Mountain, Melbourne, and Yogyakarta in Indonesia. Now it’s back and this time, Companion will be in Thailand.

In 2018, KAWS got together with AllRightsReserved to start the HOLIDAY art project. For the past seven years, the inflatable Companion character has brought smiles to millions of people’s faces,and sold a lot of KAWS merch including clothing and collectibles. In each city, KAWS partners with a local promoter, and in Thailand it’s CENTRAL EMBASSY.

While the details are scarce so far, Thailand has a plethora of options. Could Companion cause mayhem in Bangkok, home of an amazing art scene as well as millions of people who would be thrilled to see it? Maybe KAWS would place Companion in the Emerald Palace and break Bangkok. Even better, KAWS could put Companion on a mountaintop on one of Thailand’s 1430 islands. The imagery of the video on KAWS’ social media shows a sun rising above the clouds, so LiFTED is betting on mountains.
