Gloc-9 & Bishnu Paneru prove third time is a charm on 'Batang Ako'
The veteran storyteller's monthly rollout brings back a familiar voice
'Batang Ako', translated to "the child I am," marks the third time Gloc-9 has paired with Bishnu Paneru this year, following February's 'Dalaw' and March's 'Lupit.' By now the two have a clear rapport, and this latest entry slots neatly into a run defined by consistency rather than spectacle.
Both rappers settle into an introspective, Jazz-inflected beat with reflective piano stabs and brushed drums that lift their voices. The lyrics match that mood and are framed as reassurance aimed at their younger selves.
Consistency is what makes the track exciting.. Since January, Gloc-9 has released a new single every month under Universal Records: 'Tagay' with A$tro, 'Dalaw' and 'Lupit' with Paneru, and 'Ako Naman' with Oxsmugg. Each of these lean on his reputation as one of Filipino Hip Hop's most dependable lyricists rather than chasing a moment.
That reputation extends beyond music this year, too. Gloc-9, born Aristotle Pollisco, also released a poetry book, Makata Sa Pinas: Mga Tula Ni Aristotle Pollisco, launched at the Philippine Book Festival 2026.
'Batang Ako' isn’t the final stop on this rollout either. 'Lunod' featuring EC Orduna is already being teased. For an artist decades into his career, the steadiness of a packed schedule says as much as the track itself.
