The vibes are always right on Ginjin’s new album El Yama

Mongolia is having a Hip Hop moment. Just last week, Fat Joe and the Terror Squad lit up the National Stadium in Ulaanbaatar, pulling the entire community together for a historic show. Riding that wave of energy, Mongolia’s own Ginjin dropped his brand-new album, El Yama, his first full-length since 2019’s Toos to Zoos.

Despite being one of the most prolific MCs in the region, Ginjin has held off on albums, focusing instead on a steady stream of singles and collaborations. With El Yama, he delivers 14 tracks of pure range, including standouts like ‘How to Flex’ with B Tamir and ‘Dobu Boy Fresh,’ a nod to his entertainment label. The title track comes with a dark, glitch-heavy video, where ‘El Yama’ , loosely translated as ruler of the underworld, sees Ginjin embracing a new Opium-inspired energy.

Long considered a diamond in the rough, Ginjin proves once again that no matter the style, he sounds right at home on it.

Check out the video for ‘El Yama’ below and the full album as well.
