The last time we spoke to FONKi, he mentioned he was cooking up something big. The Cambodian-based graffiti artist has worked wonders with his unique Khmer-fused graffiti and has won applause from all over the world. As he tries to reinvent Asian graffiti, FONKi is set to host the very first Murals For Cambodia Festival 2022 during the last weekend of February.

Murals For Cambodia will be an annual three-day festival celebrating culture and street art through a multidisciplinary experience at Cambodia’s largest cultural hub - Factory Phnom Penh and FT Gallery, where Cambodia’s finest Hip Hop collectives such as Klap Ya Hands, Baramay, DJ Marie Thach, Compound Records, and more will take over the stages and give a taste of the authentic sounds of Khmer Hip Hop and dance music live.

Music aside, Murals For Cambodia will also carry on its artistic spirit with an elaborative art exhibition and a nationwide mural graffiti jam. FONKi has enlisted talent from around the globe, including local superstars Tones, RYYSA, Mike YSK, Kimsan Sou, plus international brilliance like Muay and Nap from Thailand’s MSV, Twoone from Japan, IMAGINE from Nepal, UK’s VENKS and France’s JB Carraro. Altogether, the stellar cast of graffiti artists will transform the ancient Kingdom of Cambodia into South East Asia’s shiniest graffiti hub.

What is art without the community behind it? To unite and inspire the local art community, the festival will also feature a private viewing at the FT Gallery, where the elite artists will put together a guide to art appreciation. Inside, everyone is welcome to exchange thoughts while bonding over the world of street art.

The Murals for Cambodia Festival 2022 will be open to the public from February 25 to 27 with free admission. Check out FONKi’s Instagram for more details.
