Drake ‘slaps’ down The Beatles

The Canadian MC now owns the record for most top 5 songs in music history

On Meek Mill’s 2019 hit ‘Going Bad,’ Drake raps on his guest slot, “I’ve got more slaps than The Beatles.’ This week, that sentence has actually come true.

Canadian MC Drake has taken down The Beatles by topping their Billboard Hot 100 record, which they owned for 55 years. With ‘Staying Alive,’ a collab with DJ Khaled and Lil Baby, Drake now has 30 songs that have debuted within the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. The Beatles have 29, with their last song, ‘The Long Winding Road/For You Blue’ charting in the top five in 1970.

This isn’t the first time Drake has broken The Beatles’ records. In 2018, he beat them for the most top 10 hits in a single year. In 2019, he beat them for most top 10 hits on the Billboard 100. To celebrate his achievements in 2019, Drake got a tattoo of The Beatles on his arm walking across the famous Abbey Road. The thing that infuriated Beatles fans was that Drake put himself in front of the Fab Four waving at them as he passed them by.

One record Drake doesn’t have is the number-one albums with 11. That record is held by none other than one-fourth of The Beatles, Paul McCartney. He has 27 number-one albums including 19 with The Beatles, three as a solo artist, and five with his group Wings.
