ChronicalZ is at the pinnacle of his powers on ANTISOCIAL*

The Malaysian MC’s delivery stays controlled even when the beats lean into chaos

Malaysian rapper ChronicalZ returns with ANTISOCIAL*, his first project since 2024’s UK 8. Rather than continuing in the laidback sound he’s known for, this EP measures his sound against the global Rap landscape. It sees him leaning into current Trap trends while keeping his presence firm at the center.

Across ANTISOCIAL*, ChronicalZ raps over hard-edged Trap productions, Rage beats and minimalist club Rap. Tracks like ‘Pasang Dua Mata’ push distorted bass and sharp percussion, while his voice weaves in-and-out of the production. Elsewhere, ‘Bag Silang LV’ leans closer to Playboi Carti-inspired territory, with loose structure and spaced-out rhythms that focus more on feel than form.

ChronicalZ’s delivery stays controlled even when the beats lean into chaos. It’s a reminder that staying current doesn’t mean losing identity, especially for an artist who has already established himself on the top tier of Malaysia’s Rap scene.

As Western rap continues to evolve, ANTISOCIAL* feels timely. For ChronicalZ, the EP proves that he’s still capable of standing toe to toe with sounds dominating far beyond Southeast Asia.
