Chrisway taps into springtime energy with ‘KOLO’

Will Asian Afrobeats be the summer 2026 vibe?

LiFTED | Marcus Aurelius | 20 Mar 2026

In the 2020s, Afrobeats has been an unmissable music genre that has taken the world by storm. Global heavyweights like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido have pushed the genre to new heights, while artists like Rema have delivered crossover smashes such as ‘Calm Down.’ Now, as spring starts to warm things up, Chrisway steps in with ‘KOLO,’ a smooth, feel-good bop powered by silky vocals and an easy, Sun-soaked groove.

The bigger question: are we about to see an Asian Afrobeats wave take over summer 2026?

Asian artists have already been testing the waters. Mongolia’s Ginjin struck gold with ‘Baba,’ a track that still gets spins years later. China’s Vinida Wang leaned into Amapiano with ‘WAIYA’ and has hinted at more Afro-inspired drops. In Hong Kong, JB and The Afroseas blended Afro rhythms with Cantonese flair on ‘做咩啊.’ Meanwhile, Cambodia has been especially active—Klap Ya Handz’s ‘Eyo Jyo’ and ‘Yeh,’ alongside 2MDIE and MC Sey’s ‘CHA CHA CHA,’ show just how far the sound is spreading.

At LiFTED, we’re all in. Hip Hop will always be at the core, but there’s something special about these breezy, rhythm-driven tracks built for sunsets, beach days, boat parties, and poolside moments. If this wave keeps building, Asian Afrobeats could easily become the soundtrack of the season.

For now, press play on Chrisway’s ‘KOLO’ and let the vibe take over.
