Central Cee added as Saturday night’s headliner for Clockenflap
UK Rap or UK Drill? Gotta mention Cee’s name
When the lineup drops for Clockenflap, it’s always an exciting time. Last year, there were two Clockenflaps and the Hip Hop headliners of Hong Kong’s marquee concert weekend were Swae Lee, De La Soul, and Wu-Tang Clan. This year, the Hip Hop headliner is Central Cee, UK’s Drill champion.
Cee is part of the Drill wave that is currently enveloping the world, and one of the UK’s brightest stars. Last year at Rolling Loud, Cee had a later-in-the-evening set and rocked it hard off the strength of his hit ‘Doja.’ In the 1.5 years since, Cee has had hit after hit with ‘BAND4BAND’ with Lil Baby, ‘Did It First!’ with Ice Spice, and his latest, ‘MOI’ with Raye, a song that is in this amazing pocket between Drum and Bass, Trap, and Drill, that sounds exactly right for 2025.
Clockenflap got bought by Live Nation, so it’s great that they aren’t just putting Taylor Swift at the top of the bill to sell tickets. There is a great variety of Indie Rock with Suede and St. Vincent as well as the Disco stylings of turntable god A-Trak and Jamie XX. Then, a lot of Asian acts fill in the rest of the lineup such as Japan’s Creepy Nuts, Hong Kong’s The Afroseas, Taiwan’s Golden English Party, and more.
