Breaking jackhammers its way into the Olympics
We never thought that Hip Hop could take it this far
Whether you call it B-Boying, B-girling, popping, locking, toprocking, krumping, boogalooing, voguing, uprocking, or waacking, dancing from the street has officially been accepted by the public as Breaking is an Olympic event this weekend at the 2024 Paris Summer Games. This is a huge come up because we never thought that Hip Hop could take it this far.
After a lot of amazing moments over the past two weeks, Breaking is going to be one of the final sports, because everything has to end at a party. On August 9 and 10, 16 men and 16 women will be battling out to be the first gold medal winner for Breaking. To say this is huge for dancing, culture, and Hip Hop will be the understatement of the year.

Nearly every dancer who has made it to Paris will have a teaching career ahead of themselves. They will be a hero in their home countries whether they win gold, silver, bronze, or come home empty handed. They’ve won the Hip Hop lottery with a lot of blood sweat and tears over the years.
