BewhY비와이 becomes a Bass-heavy force with ‘OG’ & ‘STIGMATA’

The Korean MC pushes Hip Hop into new territory

BewhY비와이 has never followed the standard Hip Hop playbook. While plenty of rappers build worlds around excess, status, and nightlife, BewhY carved out his own lane years ago that has been rooted in faith, introspection, and sharp artistic choices. His music has always sounded different. On May 29, he doubled down on that instinct with POP IS CRYIN’, an album that trades predictable Trap formulas for something heavier, stranger, and louder. Among the standout moments are ‘STIGMATA’ and ‘OG,’ two tracks that hit with enough low end to rattle the room.

‘STIGMATA’ grabs attention immediately. It’s one of those records where your ears perk up before your brain catches up. There’s a physicality to the production that makes your head nod and your face scrunch up instinctively. As Bass music continues bleeding into Hip Hop, BewhY imagines a version of that crossover that feels futuristic instead of gimmicky. The track’s sparse structure, blown-out low end, and mechanical bounce leave space for his precise delivery to cut through.

Then there’s ‘OG,’ which feels like ‘STIGMATA’s darker twin. The bass remains front and center, but BewhY’s clipped, staccato flow becomes the driving force. Every pause and punch lands with intention, pulling listeners deeper into the world he’s building.

With ‘OG’ and ‘STIGMATA,’ BewhY isn’t abandoning Hip Hop; he’s stretching it. POP IS CRYIN’ finds him leaning further into Bass textures and proving once again that Korean Hip Hop still has room to surprise.
