BewhY performs his comeback single ‘Holy Toast’ after military service on 1theK live
The Korean MC is not afraid to give a shout out to God
BewhY, an MC hailing from Korea, first made waves on the Hip Hop circuit in 2016. That year, he won the fifth edition of the acclaimed Rap-survival contest, Mnet’s Show Me The Money. The runner-up that year was C Jamm, who happens to be BewhY’s friend from high school, and also the person who gave him his MC name.
Like all Koreans [even BTS!], BewhY had to do mandatory service, which put his Hip Hop career on hold for a bit. In April of 2021, he started his military service as a police officer for the Korean Coast guard. In April of 2023, he completed his service to the country and now he’s back at what he does best - rapping.
On September 22, BewhY released ‘Holy Toast’, his first solo single since enlisting. One thing about BewhY is that he’s a man of his faith, regularly dropping bars that nod to Christianity. His newest single is no exception, as he proclaims in it, “My song resonates in the church and club,” as well as its hook, “Raise your glass/Holy Toast to the Holy Ghost”.
The track also came with a live performance video released on 1theK’s YouTube channel. BewhY comes out of a sports car, before making his way into a set which seems like a streetwear store. A music video was also scheduled for release on September 22, but has since been delayed.
